We are winding down the semester and project! Thanks for sticking with us throughout this process! Check out this video we produced from some of th content we've collected by reporting on local charities here in Phoenix, Arizona: We went to the Robinson Ranch to find out what keeps the place going. We learned that the key to keeping the place running smoothly is the volunteers. Carol Stanton, her two daughters and her husband, moved their home just to be closer to the ranch. The family is at the ranch every day helping with maintenance, assisting with rides and managing logistics. At the Robinson Ranch, volunteers are the key.

Hi all!
I hope you're getting through this mid-week hump with little to no stress. This past week, my team and I had the pleasure of going out to Robinson Ranch and learned what keeps the non-profit going. The recurring theme in our visits was the community involvement. Owners John and Sheila Robinson both voiced high praise and appreciation to all the volunteers they receive weekly. And we were fortunate enough to interview Carol Stanton, the Volunteer Coordinator, and her daughter, Laura. The entire Stanton family, including John, Carol and their two daughters, were making the drive from Chandler, Arizona to Phoenix nearly every day before they decided to move to Phoenix to be closer to Robinson Ranch. It's dedication like this from volunteers that keep local non-profit organizations going. Volunteers and donors give their time, money and heart to local charities for nothing but the satisfaction of helping others. Happy Tuesday!
We are excited to have started our research and investigation into local Arizona charities. Today, the three of us went around the ASU downtown campus to ask the community about what they know about charities; local and nationwide. We shot a variety of interviews and are putting together a video of those interviews as part of a mobile reporting assignment for multimedia class. Right after class, the three of us drove over to The Joy Bus Diner in Phoenix to shoot yet another interview of an original local non-profit organization as art of our final project and video for this very website! The Joy Bus welcomed us with open arms and we enjoyed getting to learn so much about the organization and its mission. Make sure to stay tuned to catch the finished product! |
